As you know, over the past ten years we have witnessed an alarming increase in the positional skull deformities in pediatric neurosurgery consultation. The lack of support from the Catalan health institute to tackle this problem has led to long patient's waiting lists (up to several months of waiting) and saturation of our medical staffs and resources in order to attend to all these patients according to the established protocol. Treatments to the urgent cases such as craniosynostosis are inevitably delayed as we review positional plagiocephaly cases which are less serious.
Prevention of cranial deformities can be easily done by following preventative guideline. We estimated that about 10% of the babies have some degree of deformity but this is ignored once the hair grows, although in many of the cases this deformity does not really resolve.
The babies' head shape should be systematically monitored and measured in the first 6 months of life in the same way as the current weight, height and head circumference check. In this way a quick and effective action can be taken directly by the pediatricians and the problem can be corrected easily and quickly.
After using your Craneometer for several months, I have confirmed that the proper measurement obtained is as good as the 3 dimensional scanner that we have in our hospital. I believe that this Craneometer would be very useful for pediatricians to take head measurement of all the babies between 0 to 6 months of age in order to detect and quantify the positional deformities early. These deformities can be treated easily by the primary care pediatricians with repositioning and the pillow that you promote and hence avoid the helmet therapy that is unnecessary in majority of the cases.
I wish you luck in your prevention campaign and hope all the pediatricians get involved in this prevention campaign and we can solve this problem together.

Hello we have received pillows and really pleased with them and fingers crossed they will help my grandson .He is certainly improving already.

We need to wash them reasonably often after little feeding accidents We have done so ,by hand, as our washing machine's lowest temperature is too high .
All no problem and retains shape beautifully .Our problem is in needing speedy drying .It seems to take a full 24 hours, turning regularly etc .

 By the way we are in the UK where it rains a lot, so outdoor drying not been possible thus far .

Can they be rinsed and spin dried at all?

We would really appreciate any tips if you have them .

Hello,

Well, from our tests, we don´t recommend using a drying machine since the pillow could lose its shape.

Something you can do is (after spinning to max on the washing machine) put a towel on top and bottom like a sandwitch and then press it down uniformily using a big book. In this way the pillow should not change shape and you can really squeeze most of the water out. You can really push it down, even stand on top of the book. Don't squeeze it with your hands or it will definetely lose shape.

I just want to thank you for making this wonderful pillow.

Our daughter had a very flat head from sleeping on her back.
We were worried about it and thought she would need a helmet.
However, we thought we would try your pillow to see if it would help before considering other options.

Now almost 3 months later, her head is noticeably rounder and we don't worry about laying her on her back to sleep.
We even use it on her changing table every time we change her.
Thank you again for this wonderful product.

Hello,

I have a 17 week old son and he had a very noticable flat spot on one side of the back of his head

from turning his neck one way and sleeping on his back.
I was very concerned and ordered your pillow.
I have to say I was a sceptic, but after just 2 weeks there is a noticable difference!!
His head is already rounding out on that side and I am shocked at how quickly it is transforming.
